Making today Blog for Choice Day! Here is why today in 2012 Blog for Choice day is SO important. The presidential election is coming up, and as always, a women’s right to choose is an issue. It must be maintained and protected. Our rights are being threatened with upcoming the election and all of these anti-choice candidates, that have all sworn to uphold their religious values/defend “personhood” in the White House. The best way to protect our reproductive freedom is by VOTING. Reproductive FREEDOM is crucial. We need the freedom to choose to have children. Or to not have children. Whatever YOUR personal choice is. Don’t let a politician decide your fate, your future. That is up to you and no one else. Your body, your choice. Please register to vote. Be passionate about what can change your life so drastically. We have the right to have safe, affordable, and accessible contraception. Don’t forget that.
Here is where you can register to vote
Here is where you can read about Roe v Wade
Here is where you can read about your Republican presidential candidates
Here is what our candidates have to say about women’s health:
“I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.
And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.” - Barack Obama
“I, in fact, would like to see us go much further… and eliminate abortions as a choice.” - Newt Gingrich
“As governor of Utah I signed every pro-life bill that came to my desk.” - Jon Huntsman
“I will veto any spending bill that contains funding for Planned Parenthood, facilities that perform abortion and all government family-planning schemes.” - Ron Paul
On Roe v Wade: “nothing but a shameful footnote in our nation’s history books.” - Rick Perry
“I will be a pro-life president.” - Mitt Romney
“One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.” - Rick Santorum
